Abstract

The Danish Election Study 1984 was carried out as part of two Gallup Omnibus Surveys (Omnibus no. 01, January 1984, and Omnibus no. 02, January-February 1984) immediately after the general election on 10 January. The survey deals with this election and with some political questions connected with it (party preference and actual vote at the general elections in 1981 and 1984). #In addition, the survey examines more general political questions (political attitudes and important political issues). The survey also includes a number of questions concerning the media, and a number of questions concerning the respondent's interest in various political issues (including attitudes to nuclear power and to the EC), and the respondent's involvement in political debates. #Finally, the survey examines the respondent's class affiliation, membership of organizations, and occupation (unemployment)

Data set

Order data

Variables: 271
Analysis unit: Individuals, Danish citizens aged 15 or more, living in private households. The fact that the universe consists of persons living in private households implies that persons living in collective households, e.g. conscripts, long-stay geriatric patients, and students living in halls of residence, cannot be respondents. At the beginning of 1984 approx. 61,000 persons were excluded from the universe by this criterion, leaving a population of approx. 4,058,000 persons from which to draw the sample.
