The Danish Election Study 1981 was carried out in December 1981, immediately after the general election on 8 December, and the study deals with this election and with some political questions connected with it; some questions concerning the county council/municipal election on 17 November, 1981 have also been included in the study. #The study examines the respondent's party preference (including the respondent's vote at the two elections), and, as far as the general election is concerned, it also examines what the respondent thinks the issues of the election were. #Apart from the questions concerning the elections, the study examines the political debate in general by including questions about general political views and important political issues. #In addition to this, the study includes a number of questions concerning the media, and a number of questions concerning the respondent's interest in various political issues (including nuclear power, the EC, economic industrial democracy, and democracy) and the respondent's involvement in political debates. #Finally, the study examines the respondent's class affiliation, membership of organizations, and occupation (unemployment)

Data set

Order data

Variables: 361
Analysis unit: Individuals, Danish citizens aged 15 or more, living in private households. The fact that the universe consists of persons living in private households implies that persons living in collective households, e.g. conscripts, long-stay geriatric patients, and students living in halls of residence, cannot be respondents. At the beginning of 1979 approx. 80,000 persons were excluded from the universe by this criterion, leaving a population of approx. 3,940,000 persons from which to draw the sample.
