Codebook: Variables, universes, concepts, survey design and frequency distribution
Danish Gallup Omnibus Data, 1966 comprises 10 omnibus surveys carried out by the Danish Gallup Institute in 1966. # #Each survey contains a number of demographic variables common to all the surveys of that year, as well as a number of questions dealing with topical events. This data material contains information from all the omnibuses concerning the questions common to them. # #The questions common to all 1966 omnibuses are: degree of urbanization, sex, age, marital status, occupational status of respondent and of supporter, income of family, school education of respondent, social group and party preference. In addition, omnibus nos. 08-12 contain information about: way of income of respondent, income of respondent, composition of household, position of housewife and her employment, respondent's position in household and type of dwelling. # #The special questions deal with such issues as: # #Omnibus no. 01 (DDA-1283): #Attitudes to the law on pornographic literature being changed or abolished; alcohol and driving; attitudes to Denmark's role in Greenland; and the space race: Americans or Russians first on the moon (before 1970)?. # #Omnibus no. 03 (DDA-1284): #Attitudes to miniskirts; assessment of military service and defence in Denmark; assessment of the Danish and Scandinavian 'Melodi Grand Prix' as well as the 'Eurovision Song Contest'; and knowledge of and attitudes to the Danish Gallup Institute and its surveys. # #Omnibus no. 04 (DDA-1285): #Co-operation between the Liberal Party, the Radical Liberal Party, and the Conservative People's Party; attitudes to the P.A.Y.E. tax system; assessment of Danish TV programmes; Saturdays off from work; attitudes to the 5-day school week; attitudes to America's involvement in Vietnam; collective bargaining (state intervention versus labour conflicts); and attitudes to tax already paid being tax deductible. # #Omnibus no. 05 (DDA-1286): #Summer holiday plans; holiday destination (Denmark or abroad); attitudes to the 5-day school week; Saturdays off from work; assessment of the Saturday night TV shows 'Trekampen (a Nordic contest); and assessment of Dr. Hoffmeyer's sex instruction programme on TV. # #Omnibus no. 07 (DDA-1287): #Assessment of Danish drivers; men versus women drivers; attitudes to the P.A.Y.E. tax system; attitudes to tax already paid being tax deductible; TV programmes on tax deduction; renewal of the Danish membership of NATO in 1969 at the expiration of the present treaty; assessment of the necessity of a tax reform; attitudes to Danish membership of the EC (provided that Great Britain joins the EC simultaneously); assessment of Russian and American contributions to world peace; Russia's attitude to the USA and to China, especially in case of war between China and the USA; is Russia or the USA the best co-operation partner for Western Europe; knowledge of the Warsaw Pact; and attitudes to the Warsaw Pact countries and the members of NATO joining forces, and US membership of such an alliance. # #Omnibus no. 08 (DDA-1288): #The performance of the Government; attitudes to America's involvement in Vietnam and the risk of another world war because of this; knowledge of and attitudes to marijuana; alcohol versus marijuana; and attitudes to noise at home, at work, and elsewhere. # #Omnibus no. 09 (DDA-1289): #Attitudes to Denmark's role in Greenland; the abolition of general speed limit areas; husbands' share of housework; and attitudes to development aid (the 1% target). # #Omnibus no. 10 (DDA-1290): #Social class affiliation; attitudes to kidney transplants, etc.; attitudes to the street painters in the pedestrian streets of Copenhagen (the 'Strøget'); and opening hours. # #Omnibus no. 11 (DDA-1291): #Breakfast in Denmark; wages (cash/cheque/other); attitudes to the P.A.Y.E. tax system; men versus women in leading positions; summer cottage; attitudes to tax deductions; and income tax percentage preference. # #Omnibus no. 12 (DDA-1292): #Attitudes to the election campaign on TV; attitudes to the new Social Democratic minority Government; government preference; and expectations of 1967 (prices, unemployment, labour unrest, Denmark's economic situation, peace in the world, the power of the USSR, the USA and China, and living standards)
